This story was sent to us by Mark Johnson of endurance racing team PDS Grandprix, who recently competed (with great success) at the Indy 12 Hour on the Gold Coast. Here's Mark with the story:

PDS GRAND PRIX WIN GOLD COAST INDY 12 HOUR ENDURANCE STREET RACE

Team PDS Grandprix entered two Phoenix endurance karts for last weekends final round of the Prokart Qld endurance championship held at the Indy street circuit (Parklands facility) on the Gold Coast.
The team took delivery of a new Phoenix (kart 662) for the race to provide some development support to kart 661, who were lying in third place in the championship with only the Indy race remaining in the championship.

The 12hr street race is the highlight of the endurance calendar with the barrier-lined track ensuring that there is never a dull moment. The inability to see through the barriers at corners makes for an exciting and demanding drive with nil room for error.
Both karts were in the top 3 positions until a clutch failure caused 661 to drop out of contention. The karts took the top two positions in fastest lap times.

Both karts were very quick with the new Phoenix dominating the majority of the event winning all three of the cumulative races and taking the race after a nail biting finish due to a poor pit strategy.
662 was very easy to drive, precise and could be placed very accurately on the demanding barrier lined track.
What made the win more memorable was the fact that two of the three drivers for the event were usually a long way off the front runners pace however the kart was so solid that times for the two drivers improved to such an extent that the lead was maintained across all driving stints.
What a machine!!
